Restoring a much-loved horsebox
The story of how we brought this Volvo horsebox back to life.
Our workshop in the Wirral can strip, prepare and paint any size of horsebox into your paint-scheme or team colours, whether it’s a new build or secondhand box. We recently undertook a project to refurbish and modernise a horsebox, transforming it to meet the client’s preferences and functional needs.
RESTORING A HORSEBOX IS A DETAILED PROCESS REQUIRING PRECISION AND SPECIALISED EQUIPMENT.
Full strip and corrosion removal
This comprehensive service began with the stripping of existing decals and preparation of the surface, including thorough cleaning, rust removal, and priming to create a flawless base. The wheels and hubs were shot blasted and treated with multi substrate primer and then painted.
Fiberglass repair and steelwork welding
The horsebox’s fiberglass roof was expertly repaired and joints were resealed with Kent 404 sprayable sealer to ensure a watertight finish, while any corroded or damaged sections were replaced.

Preparing for paint
After detailed masking, the horsebox was primed.
Repainting
The horsebox was top-coated with Glasurit 68 Line high-solid paint, achieving a durable finish. The vehicle was baked in our commercial booth, with fine satin-black detailing added between the windows.
Rebuild
After de-masking and reassembly and final quality checks by our workshop manager, a valet ensured a flawless presentation for a thrilled customer.
